packages
In addition to traditional semi-monthly coaching, I offer the following packages:
Strategic Intensives (2 sessions). Need to get out of your own head? Strategic intensives generate transformative clarity–quickly. The core service consists of two sessions: a strategic coaching session, followed by either a second coaching session or a targeted workshop (e.g. for a relevant proposal, planning doc, presentation, research, or projection). The work is both aggressive and accountable to your organization’s complexity. After two sessions, clients are welcome to drop-in for “booster” sessions as needed, but I do not expect (or pressure) continuation. This service is designed for high-functioning, busy execs who need to go deep and get clear ASAP.
Momentum Coaching (4 – 6 sessions). Need accountability and focus on an idea or project? Try this fast-paced series of weekly coaching with homework, all geared towards creating momentum. Our first session will clarify your motivation (why this project? why now?) and locate you within your project’s life cycle (e.g. ideation, research, networking, planning, implementation). Then, we will advance the work aggressively through a personalized mix of coaching, strategic dialogue, and product workshops. Our final session will outline next steps, potential obstacles, and strategies to overcome them. You will be ready to fly solo and see your big idea to completion in 4 – 6 weeks.
benefits
Strategic Discipline. Coaching sessions are purposeful, and they are designed to pull you out of the day-to-day. Make no mistake, strategic reflection is challenging work (it is not navel-gazing). Clarity and perspective become possible only when you step away from the daily frenzy.
Accountability. As your coach, I will track your progress towards goals and check for follow-through. When you become stuck, I will press you to understand why and break through. Unlike a manager or board of directors, to whom you are accountable for specific outcomes, my role is to hold you accountable to your strategic process.
Thought Partnership. “It’s lonely at the top,” is more than a cliché; it is a reality for every executive. Coaching sessions are safe spaces to explore the ideas, concerns, priorities, concepts, and complexities that aren’t ready for public consumption, even by your closest colleagues. As a coach, my role is that of confidential sounding board and thought partner.
Alignment of your mission with your organization’s mission. Coaching conversations are non-judgmental, confidential, and candid. My position as an outsider will empower you to assess your impact and work satisfaction honestly, in order to make changes that matter.
how it works
During your discovery session, we will discuss your coaching needs and related goals. If we agree to move forward, we will typically meet semi-monthly. Sessions last one hour and are conducted either in person (in Charlottesville, VA) or virtually (by phone or webcam).
Although I will suggest foci and prepare questions, the agenda is yours to shape as desired. During the session, I will listen, ask questions, and note patterns. While my style is collaborative and friendly, I may, on occasion, interrupt to ask questions or share observations. Sessions may conclude with agreed upon “homework” — small, but substantial steps to ensure your forward progress.
If needed and agreed, I will suggest assessments and/or conduct stakeholder interviews to more fully incorporate feedback from your managers, peers, or subordinates. Stakeholder interviews last one hour and are billed as additional sessions.
pricing
My fee is $250 per session. I offer a 20% nonprofit discount and a 10% discount to certified b-corporations, academic institutions, and their employees.
30-minute discovery sessions are free of charge.
